I was just looking for some finance internships. I really didn't know all that much about State Farm. I obviously knew of them because every sports game you watch, they have some kind of branding.

Everyone knows Jake from State Farm. That was kind of my first impressions. I knew they did insurance, but I definitely didn't expect that they had as much technology as they have.

I didn't even know that State Farm had this team that did this kind of research. But once I started looking into it, I saw people writing about their experiences and they talked about it as a place that really values work life balance, which they really appreciated and a place that they really felt like they could have an impact.

When you join the team, they're super welcoming and everyone wants to get to know your story. They really value the interns a lot.

I'm currently a graduate student at Purdue University, and this summer I have been working hybrid and that's been really nice because I've been able to gain this experience without feeling like I needed to uproot my whole life for the summer.

There's so many beautiful places to sit. If you want to sit outside and kind of work wherever you want to. My department definitely focuses on making sure that we are doing significant work. My work this year has been focusing on email scams, which has been so much fun. I'm learning so much about what the industry is doing, how we can help defend against it.

Back at the desk now, this is the little cubicle I got got my State Farm bobblehead from Founder's Day. Everything we do is business relevant. Everything that you're doing is real analyst work. Your perspective is valued. They're constantly looking for fresh perspective on things, and they genuinely want to hear what you have to say.

Play some golf, live yourself. Right now. I sort of hold one fact that they give a lot of trust in to the interns because they know who you are. They know that you're qualified. I think all the work that I've done, it's felt very, very important for both the team and the entire company.

I'm not doing something separate because I'm an intern. They make sure that I feel integrated and make sure that I really feel like I'm a part of that team.
